About 10 days
The route
This route does not try to cover Bali. It fills ten days with what is genuinely worth it — everything else is noise.
Leg 1: Days 1–3 · West Bali National Park
The west: reef and silence
- Arrive and drive west from the airport — about 4 hours.
- A full day on Menjangan: snorkelling and diving the coral walls.
- A free day for the beach, the mangroves, or nothing at all.
The momentFloating over a coral wall with nobody else in the water.
Leg 2: Days 4–7 · Ubud
The centre: culture and dinners
- Drive to Ubud through the highlands — about 3.5 hours.
- The Monkey Forest, the market (haggle for everything) and a dance at the palace.
- A silver jewelry workshop.
- Dinner at Kusi, Locavore NXT or Room4Dessert.
The momentKecak by firelight in front of the palace.
Leg 3: Days 8–10 · Candidasa
The east: slow days by the sea
- A short drive east to a boutique hotel on the water — roughly 1.5 hours.
- A full day at Virgin Beach: arrive at 10 am, sun until about 4 pm.
- A morning at Tirta Gangga; one dinner at Vincent’s.
The momentLunch at a beach warung, and the lounger is yours for the day.
Leg 4: Day 10 or 11 · Airport
Home
- Candidasa to the airport — about 2 hours. Leave generous margin for traffic.
If you have less time
Seven days
Drop one day in each region. Keep Menjangan, the palace dance and Virgin Beach — they are the backbone.
If you have more
Two weeks
Add beach days in the east, or stretch Ubud — a second performance, a slower morning, one more serious dinner.
Driving times are approximate and change with traffic, weather and ceremonies. Hire a private driver by the day between regions — it is the most comfortable way to move.
